The Assessment page provides a real-time, transparent view into your security testing progress. It is divided into three primary functional areas: Assessment Metadata, Application Security (App), and Network Security (Net).
1. Assessment Overview & Metadata
This section serves as the "control tower" for your assessment, providing high-level status and summary statistics.
- Real-time Status: Track whether your assessment is currently Scanning, undergoing Validation by our security analysts, or has been Committed to your final report.
- Timeline Details: View the active dates of the assessment. Hover over the dates for a granular breakdown of the testing window.
- Vulnerability Summary: A snapshot of findings, categorized by:
- New: Vulnerabilities identified for the first time in this cycle.
- Closed: Previously identified issues that are no longer detected.
- Total: The comprehensive count of findings for the current assessment.
2. Application Security (App Section)
The App section provides a deep dive into the web application sitemap and the specific testing coverage applied to each URL.
- Dynamic Sitemap: As the scan progresses, the sitemap populates in real-time. This data remains accessible for 12 months to support historical trend analysis.
- The "Unverified" Concept: You may see "unverified vulnerabilities" listed during a live scan.Analogy: Think of these as "leads" in a detective investigation. Our automated scanners flag potential issues, but every lead is then manually investigated by an Edgescan analyst. During this human-in-the-loop phase, findings may be merged, refined, or dismissed as false positives to ensure your final report is 100% actionable.
- Coverage Visualization: Donut charts for each URL visualize the progress of injection point testing and specific vulnerability checks. As the scan nears completion, these indicators fill to show total coverage.
- Data Management: Use the toolbar to filter results, save custom views, or export the entire sitemap to CSV for external reporting.
- Usability: The page also has the usual things like such as filtering (1), saved filters (2), light sorting (3), the ability to enable and disable columns (4) and the option to export all the data to CSV (5).
3. Network Security (Net Section)
The Net section focuses on infrastructure-level findings and becomes fully available once the network scanning phase is complete.
- Asset Identification: View a comprehensive list of every IP address and hostname touched during the assessment.
- Service Mapping: For each asset, the page displays the current state and a list of open ports identified.
- Export & Audit: Similar to the App section, you can filter this list to focus on specific subnets (1) or export the data for your internal asset management records (2).
